Founded in Cincinnati (Ohio) in 1842 by German immigrants, Fechheimer Bros. Co. is one of the oldest American companies specializing in clothing and uniforms. Born as the Fechheimer family's textile business, over time it became an official supplier of uniforms for post offices, police departments, fire departments and the US armed forces.
Throughout its history the company has gone through every major era of modern America: from supplying uniforms after the Civil War, to federal government contracts during World War II, to the post-war years, when it continued to make service uniforms for the U.S. Postal Service and other public institutions.
In the 1940s and 1950s, the period this postman jacket dates back to, Fechheimer was already nationally recognized as a maker of sturdy, functional, high-quality garments, built to last and to represent with dignity the institutions that wore them.
Postman jacket made in USA, in whipcord. Talon zipper. Wool lining. Leather-reinforced cuffs. A true archive piece of history.
Condition: excellent, with a small defect on the inside and a hole on the lower part.
