One of the true distinctive features that have characterized the history of the World Cup since England 1966 have been the mascots. Symbols of uniqueness that very often represented characteristics and at the same time traditions of the host country. Colors, expressions and sometimes animals have been frequent and increasingly used throughout the history of the World Cup.

Following several years without animals, there was a return to the origins in USA 1994 with Striker, a dog with red, white and blue colors and with a t-shirt depicting the writing "USA 94".

The United States commissioned Warner Bros to design the mascot and they chose Striker, i.e. "striker".

This vintage t-shirt dating back to the 1994 World Cup depicts Striker, with a soccer ball and the famous Philips brand present in several parts on the head.
