Vintage French chore jacket Le Meilleure D'amiens dated 1960s.
Made in France.
In excellent condition with a beautiful faded color from the passing of the years.
History:
The work jacket originated in France in the 19th century, quickly becoming the preferred garment for many professions. The classic blue color, adopted by French weavers, served to hide rips and stains, making it ideal for farmers, artisans, auto workers, and railroad workers. Carpenters, however, favored black.
A distinctive feature of some bleu de travail is the use of hbt cotton.
In the 1950s, these jackets came back into fashion, becoming iconic pieces in the world of vintage clothing.
