The year 1973 was pivotal for the U.S. Army with the introduction of the OG 507 service uniform, made from a combination of polyester and cotton.
This uniform marked a significant improvement over previous materials, featuring a "durable print" that was clearly distinct from the fabrics used in the past.
The OG 507 uniforms were washable and easy to care for, with large yellow labels sewn inside and trousers that had zippers rather than buttons.
These uniforms, along with the OG-107, remained the standard until the arrival of the BDU (Battle Dress Uniform) camouflage uniforms in 1981.
