In 1973, the U.S. Army introduced the OG 507 service uniform, made of a blend of polyester and cotton. This new uniform, featuring a "durable print," was a significant departure from previous materials. Washable and easier to maintain, the uniforms had large yellow labels and zipper closures.
These uniforms, along with the OG-107, remained standard until the introduction of the BDU in 1981, featuring a dark green and khaki color scheme.
The OG-507 like the previous OG-107 featured a dark green and khaki color.
