1973 marked a significant moment for the U.S. Army with the introduction of service uniforms made from a blend of polyester and cotton, known as OG 507.

This new uniform was a significant departure from previous materials and featured a distinctive look, called a "durable print," that was markedly different from the fabric previously used.

Uniforms were washable and easier to maintain, marked by large yellow labels sewn inside and trousers with zippers rather than buttons.

These uniforms, along with the earlier OG-107, remained standard until the introduction of the BDU (Battle Dress Uniform) camouflage uniform in 1981.

The OG-507 like the previous OG-107 featured a dark green and khaki color.
