In 1973, the U.S. Army took a significant step forward by introducing service uniforms made from a blend of polyester and cotton, known as OG 507.
This new uniform was a major departure from the materials previously used and was distinguished by its "durable print," a unique look from previous fabrics. These uniforms were easily washable and easier to maintain, featuring large yellow labels sewn into the inside and pants with zippers instead of buttons.
The OG 507, along with the OG-107 that preceded it, were the standard until the introduction of the BDU (Battle Dress Uniform) camouflage uniforms in 1981.
