History:

Originating in France in the 19th century, the work jacket quickly became the most commonly used garment for various professions. The color blue, chosen by French weavers to hide tears and stains, was worn by farmers, craftsmen, auto workers, and railroad workers. Black, on the other hand, was favored by carpenters.

A distinctive element of the bleu de travail is, in some garments, the use of hbt cotton.

In the 1950s, these jackets made a comeback, becoming iconic pieces in vintage fashion.
